Acting

The Department of Theatre and Film offers the program leading to the B.F.A. in Acting. For details about current offerings, visit the Department.

Admission and Transfer

Admission to the B.F.A. in Acting is limited, and is based on an evaluation of the preparation and capabilities of each applicant during a performance audition. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not ensure admission to the B.F.A. in Acting Program. The number of places available in the program is limited.

Applying for admission to the B.F.A. in Acting is a two-stage process requiring both an online application form, submitted directly to UBC Undergraduate Admissions, and a successful audition, held by the Department of Theatre and Film. Program acceptance is contingent on students meeting the university’s entrance requirements. Please see BFA Admission and Transfer and Undergraduate Admissions for details.

The B.F.A. in Acting normally consists of four years of study, and individuals may apply for admission to either Year 1 or Year 2 of the program. Students who apply and audition prior to studying at a post-secondary institution, if accepted, will enter into Year 1. Students who apply and audition while studying at UBC or another post-secondary institution, or after completing these studies, may enter into the second year of the program, if accepted. Auditions are held in February. Please see the Acting Program website for more information.

All students enrolled in the B.F.A. program will be reviewed annually upon completion of the Winter Session. Please see Continuation Requirements.
