The Bachelor of Fine Arts is a four-year degree program in the Faculty of Arts, blending artistic and professional practice, theory, and research. The degree is offered in the following areas of specialization: Creative Writing, Film Production, Theatre (Acting), Theatre (Design and Production), and Visual Art.
- The B.F.A. in Creative Writing is offered by the Creative Writing Program
- The B.F.A. in Acting, the B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Production, and the B.F.A. in Film Production are offered by the Department of Theatre and Film
- The B.F.A. in Visual Art is offered by the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory
Students may enter a B.F.A. program directly from secondary school, or by transferring from another degree program within the Faculty of Arts, another Faculty, or another post-secondary institution. Admission to individual B.F.A. Major or Honours programs is competitive and requires the submission of supplementary admission materials directly to the department/program as part of the application process; see Admission and Transfer. Students may choose to complete programs with honours, major, double major, or minor specializations.
The Faculty of Arts also offers a four and one-half year Dual Degree Program Option that permits students to combine a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Master of Management from the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration (Sauder School of Business).
