Middle East Studies is an interdisciplinary program. Students explore the complex histories, politics, religions, economies, and cultures of the region. The program also situates the Middle East in a global context, promoting study of its deep connections with other regions.

Minor in Middle East Studies
The minor consists of 30 credits, of which 18 credits must be at the 300-level or above.
Lower-level Requirements
12 credits at the lower-level:
- 12 credits from the List of Approved Courses for 100 and 200-level1
1No more than 6 credits in lower-level language courses can count towards this Minor.
Upper-level Requirements
18 credits at the upper-level:
- MES_V 300 (3) The Middle East: Critical Questions and Debates
- 15 credits from the List of Approved Courses for 300 and 400-level1,2
1No more than 9 upper-level credits in any one course code can count towards this Minor.
2No more than 6 credits of upper-level language courses can count towards this Minor.
