First Nations and Indigenous Studies is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program in the Faculty of Arts. Students can choose to major or minor in the program. FNIS_V courses explore the cultural, political, economic, and legal issues that have come to inform the experiences of Indigenous peoples locally, nationally, and globally.
Major in First Nations and Indigenous Studies
Lower Level Requirements
Students must complete:
- FNIS_V 100 (3) and 3 credits at any level from FNEL_V.
- FNIS_V 210 (3)
- FNIS_V 220 (3)
Upper Level Requirements
Students must complete:
- FNIS_V 300 (3)
- FNIS_V 310 (3)
- FNIS_V 320 (3)
- FNIS_V 400 (6)
- 9 credits of FNIS_V or INLB_V courses at the 300/400 level.
- An additional 6 credits at the 300/400 level from the Approved Course List.
Minor in First Nations and Indigenous Studies
Lower Level Requirements
Students must complete:
- FNIS_V 100 (3) and 3 credits at any level from FNEL_V.
- FNIS_V 210 (3)

Upper Level Requirements
Students must complete:
- FNIS_V 310 (3)
- 9 credits of FNIS_V or INLB_V courses at the 300/400 level.
- An additional 6 credits at the 300/400 level from the Approved Course List.
