The Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies offers programs in Spanish leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts, and programs in Hispanic Studies leading to the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy.

Major in Spanish
Lower-Level Requirements
Students intending to proceed toward a Major are required to take: SPAN 101, 102, 201, 202, and 221. (Students may take a placement test to determine their entry level.)
Upper-Level Requirements
- SPAN 301, 302, 357, 358, 364 and 365
- 12 credits from SPAN 321, 322, 401-495
Minor in Spanish
Lower-Level Requirements

Third and fourth years of the program require that students complete:
- SPAN 301 and 302
- at least 6 credits from SPAN 357, 358, 364, 365
