Cinema Studies

The Department of Theatre and Film offers undergraduate programs of study that lead to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Cinema Studies. For details about current offerings, visit the Cinema Studies Program.

Admission to the Cinema Studies Honours, Major, and Minor Programs is not automatic. Students must make a written application. Students who do not have a sufficiently high average cannot be admitted. Depending on the number of applicants in a given year, an average of 76% is required for admission into the major and minor. An average of 85% is required for admission to honours. Admission is based on the average grade obtained in all 100- and 200-level cinema studies courses.

Online application forms for the major, minor, and honours programs should be filled out on the Cinema Studies Program website prior to registration for third year. The deadline is in early May.

Applicants will be notified by May 31 whether they have been accepted, rejected, or put on a waiting list.
