Admission Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the general requirements set by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Admission to the M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Theatre is on the basis of a script submission, including some work in another writing genre, and also relevant coursework in theatre at the undergraduate level or equivalent. The program will focus on developing skills in Stage Playwriting. Please visit Creative Writing for information on manuscript submission, deadlines, and other inquiries.
Program Requirements
Students are required to complete 36 credits (including a 6-credit thesis) of coursework in Creative Writing and Theatre. All course selections must be approved by their Creative Writing and Theatre advisors. Students may have the possibility of a stage reading of their own work and must, in fulfillment of the 6-credit thesis requirement, write the equivalent of a full-length stage play acceptable to both programs. The thesis requirement must be met in the second year and may be a substantial revision and extension of work done during the first year.
