The Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship program prepares students for careers with governments, resource sector businesses, and ENGOs involved with Indigenous resource stewardship. Indigenous Peoples around the world are reclaiming and revitalizing their lands, and this program will help prepare individuals to become stewardship leaders. Students will learn from experts who will bridge Indigenous and western knowledge systems emphasizing approaches for more holistic and sustainable natural resource management. This interdisciplinary program instructs students in diverse areas such as ecology, dendrology, law and governance, communication, GIS and mapping, business management, disturbance and climate adaptation, research and data management methods, and community capacity building. The majority of the courses in the program are multi-access which provides students the option of either learning in-person on the UBC Vancouver campus or from their home community online. The program also includes several land-based field courses that will require in-person attendance. The program consists of 117 core course credits and 12 non-restricted elective credits.
