Introduction

The Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources program provides an inter-disciplinary foundation for professional careers in conservation, sustainable management, and stewardship of natural resources, with an emphasis on forested ecosystems. Specially tailored first year courses provide an entrée to six different majors that allow for deeper training in sub-disciplines spanning the emerging fields of sustainable bioproducts, to forest management & business operations, to local and global conservation. Learning opportunities include experiential field-based courses and international exchanges, scientific laboratory and research methods, geospatial technologies, as well as community-based approaches and Indigenous knowledge systems.

Different majors can lead to professional accreditation as foresters, science educators, or wildlife biologists, and can involve co-operative educational work experiences. Options for global and international specializations, as well as minors, exist within different majors.
