Admission

Applicants to the Master of Architecture must meet UBC’s master’s-level admission requirements, including the English Language Proficiency Requirements. Admission to the Master of Architecture requires completion of a degree academically equivalent to a four-year bachelor’s degree at UBC. Applications must be submitted on-line. Required application materials include a résumé, a statement of intent, a digital portfolio, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (including those attended on exchange), three letters of reference, and payment of the application fee. Detailed application requirements are available on the SALA website here

Upon approval, offers of admission are issued by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on the recommendation of the Master of Architecture Admissions Committee. Admission is competitive; meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Advanced Placement

Applicants who have completed a qualifying undergraduate degree, as identified on the SALA website here, with coursework equivalent to the first year of the Master of Architecture program may be considered for advanced placement. Through the admissions process, eligible applicants may be offered admission to the two-year, 81-credit track. Applicants seeking advanced placement must indicate this request in the on-line application.
