Italian and Italian Studies

The Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies offers undergraduate programs of study in Italian that lead to the Bachelor of Arts.

Major in Italian

Currently the Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies does not offer a Major in Italian.

Minor in Italian

To graduate with a Minor in Italian, students must complete:

Lower-Level Requirements

Up to 12 credits*

  • 6 credits of ITAL_V 101 and 102 or 3 credits of ITAL_V 103
  • 6 credits of ITAL_V 201 and 202 

*Students with heritage knowledge of Italian may not need to take all, or even any, of ITAL_V 101, 102, 103, 201 or 202; they should discuss their placement with the Student Programs Coordinator at https://fhis.ubc.ca/undergraduate-advising-contact-form/.

Upper-Level Requirements

Students must complete 8 credits from any 300-level or 400-level courses in ITAL_V or RMST_V courses from Cluster B – Italian Studies (RMST_V 340-355, RMST_V 440-459).
