Summer session students who have paid the maximum student fees approved by the UBC Board of Governors for the immediately preceding Winter Session will not be assessed additional fees.
Summer Session students who have not paid the maximum Athletics and Recreation fees for the immediately preceding Winter Session will be assessed the lesser of the following:
- the difference between the Winter Session assessment and the maximum of the assessment based on the Summer Session credits, or
- the maximum of the assessment based on the Summer Session credits.
Summer Session students who have not paid the iMED and iMED Direct Billing fees for the immediately preceding Winter Session will be assessed based on their eligibility. Please see iMED for more information.
Student Fees Established and Approved by a Student Society
Summer session students who have paid student fees approved by a student society for the immediately preceding Winter Session will not be assessed additional fees, except for the U-Pass. Summer session students who have not paid student fees approved by a student society for the immediately preceding Winter Session will be assessed fees as follows:
Beginning in Winter 2026, AMS fees will be assessed based on member groupings.
Active Members
Active Members are students enrolled in in-person or hybrid programs who have full access to on-campus services, facilities, and student society. These members are assessed the full range of AMS student fees.
Online-only Active Members
Online-only Active Members are students registered exclusively in courses delivered in an online format. These members are assessed a reduced set of AMS student fees.
Exchange, Visiting Graduate, or UBC Okanagan Campus Students
- Students participating in exchange programs from institutions abroad who are not assessed tuition at UBC Vancouver1.
- Students participating in the Western Dean program from other institutions, who are not assessed tuition fees by UBC Vancouver.
- Students from UBC Okanagan attending UBC Vancouver for one term or more while continuing to pay student fees at UBC Okanagan.
