  • Artificial Intelligence
Global adoption rate of artificial intelligence (AI) in businesses is steadily growing year over year. Across BC and Canada organizations are actively exploring and implementing AI solutions to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and provide innovative services. This drives the need for professionals with the skills and knowledge to plan and implement AI.

UBC Extended Learning’s artificial intelligence courses provide learners with key competencies and knowledge to make critical decisions on incorporating AI in cloud solutions and digital media.

  • Cloud Computing
Vancouver, a technology hub, as well as the rest of BC, are witnessing significant growth in cloud computing jobs, but organizations are having trouble filling these roles. UBC Extended Learning’s cloud computing courses and programs are designed to provide several pathways to meet student and employer needs, and offer a unique BC perspective. Gain both the business and technical skills to help you successfully adopt, implement, deploy and manage cloud and AI applications and initiatives in your organization.
  • Cybersecurity
Cyber risks are increasing at a rapid rate due to digitization, the use of cloud services, remote work and sophisticated attacks and threats. In tandem with these trends, jobs that call for cybersecurity skills have surged in BC, Canada and globally. UBC Extended Learning’s cybersecurity courses and programs were developed in consultation with leading BC cybersecurity experts, consultants and academics to provide learners with skills to create strategic cybersecurity policies and manager cybersecurity threats in their organizations.
  • Data Science
Data science is an in-demand career path and is proving to be one of the most interesting, lucrative and versatile careers available today. This profession appeals to people who are technically inclined and to those with little to no experience in data and statistics alike – all that is required is curiosity, creativity and drive. Our foundational data science program provides a solid understanding of data science principles and hands-on data experience. We also offer data science programs specialized in areas such as health care and ocean management.
  • Extended Reality (XR) and Gaming
XR, also known as extended reality or cross reality, is an umbrella term for augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR). XR technology is used in applications that include education, gaming, retail, medicine, engineering and design. AR/VR/XR software engineers and developers are in high demand, and job growth is high. UBC Extended Learning has partnered with Circuit Stream, an industry leader in XR education, to offer online project-based XR courses.
  • Software Development
Software solutions are found in virtually every sector of the economy, and sector growth will continue to offer job prospects in the decades to come. Many roles, including those in business and financial analysis, research, engineering, and even animation and FX, require foundational programming skills.

Our programming courses are developed and taught by faculty from the UBC Department of Computer Science − rated in the top 3 in Canada − and feature world-class content aligned with the needs of employers and industry.
