  2. Academic Year 2016/17 - July

    Holiday in lieu of Canada Day. University closed.

    Students who are planning to apply for the Winter General Bursary in August-September should have applied for government student loans for the Winter Session by this date. It is also recommended that students apply by this date in order to have funding in place for the beginning of the Winter Session.

    Start of Summer Session Term 2. First day of classes for term running from July 4 to August 11 (exams August 15 to 19). For important deadlines such as last day for withdrawal without a withdrawal standing of W recording on a student's academic record, and last day for withdrawal with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record, refer to the online Course Schedule.

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for overseas international students to be admitted for registration in January 2018. Late recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    Law: Supplemental and deferred examinations begin (July 4 to 14 inclusive).

    Teacher Education Program: Summer Session Term 2A begins (all options).

    Summer Session Term 2 courses: Last day for change in registration and for withdrawal from most Summer Session Term 2 courses without withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record. Student Service Centre remains open for course withdrawals with a W standing. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Summer Session Term 2: Tuition fees due. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

    Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for the completion of the LPI test by BC students (including students who are non-BC residents studying at BC educational institutions) intending to take a first-year English course beginning in September. Newly-admitted students from outside of British Columbia may obtain special permission to write on Saturday, 2 September 2017. To seek permission, write to the First-Year English Office by 15 July 2017.

    Master of Management (MM) Program (Dual Degree): First day of classes for Summer Period 2 courses (July 17 – August 18, 2017).

    Access & Diversity: Recommended date for submission of materials for alternate format production for Winter Session courses starting in September 2017.

    Mechanical Engineering: Last day for students to complete their registration for 2017/18 Winter Session Term 1 and Term 2 MECH courses. After this date, courses with low enrolment may be cancelled and it may not be possible to accommodate registration requests.

    Applied Science: Master of Engineering Leadership, all Pillars - on-campus course begins (July 31-August 18); exams August 21-25

  3. Academic Year 2005/06 - October

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final oral examinations for doctoral students planning to graduate in November.

    Graduate Studies: last day for submission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies Office of Master's and Doctoral theses for Fall graduation.

    Last day for payment of fees for any fee assessments incurred between September 1 and September 30. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold: further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $30.00 and interest will be assessed on outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees section - published in Calendar).

    Thanksgiving Day. University closed.

    Graduate Studies: last day for departments to notify the Faculty of Graduate Studies that major papers have been submitted and all requirements met for non-thesis Master's degrees for Fall graduation.

    Dentistry, D.M.D., third and fourth years: last day of program prior to mid-term break.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisor to submit "Appointment of External Examiner for Doctoral Thesis" form to Faculty of Graduate Studies in time for Summer Blackout.

    Student Mobility Programs: Deadline to apply for a summer student exchange program (deadlines subject to change, please check the Go Global website to confirm).

    Dentistry, D.M.D., third and fourth years: mid-term break (March 13 to 17 inclusive).

    Summer Session: Student Service Centre available for registration for all courses (subject to change). All students should refer to their admission letter or to the Student Services Centre for individual registration access dates.     Deadline for new clients with a disability or medical condition to register with Access and Diversity for exam accommodations for April formal exams.
