  1. Academic Year 2001/02 - December

    Dentistry, D.M.D., third and fourth year assessment period begins (December 1 to December 7 inclusive).

    December examinations begin for most Faculties, day and evening classes (December 4 to December 17 inclusive). Saturdays are included in the exam schedule.

    Law, all years: December examinations begin.

    Student Exchange Programs: application deadline for Education Abroad Programs (EAP) and Canadian Exchange Programs (CANEX).

    Supplemental and deferred examination period (Summer Session).

    Meeting of the Senate.

    Graduate Studies: last day for supervisors to submit "Appointment of External Examiner for Doctoral Thesis" form to Faculty of Graduate Studies for students expecting to graduate in May. Submissions received after this date may not be processed in time for spring graduation.

    Last day of December examinations for most Faculties.

    Law, all years: last day of December examinations.

    Christmas Day. University closed.

    Boxing Day. University closed.

    Reduced student services in some departments. Most student services departments are closed until Wednesday, January 2, 2002.

    Deadline for application of deferment of tuition fee payment for Winter Session Term 2 for new and returning students not registered in Winter Session Term 1. This applies only to student loan recipients and students who hold major external graduate or undergraduate fellowships.

  2. Academic Year 2013/14 - August

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for North American students to be admitted for registration in January 2015. Late recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for submission of exam copies of doctoral dissertations to Faculty of Graduate Studies for transmission to the external examiner in time for November graduation.

    Last day for sponsored students to submit application to have fees billed to a sponsoring organization. Students who do not submit their applications by the deadline will be required to pay the first instalment of tuition fees by September 5 to avoid financial hold procedure (see Fees).

    Mechanical Engineering: Last day for students to complete their registration for 2014/15 Winter Session Term 1 and Term 2 MECH courses. After this date, courses with low enrolment may be cancelled and it may not be possible to accommodate registration requests.

    BC Day. University closed.

    Access & Diversity: Last day for booking an exam accommodation for Summer Session Term 2.

    Summer Session Term 2: Last day of classes for most faculties.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisors to submit Appointment of External Examiner form to Faculty of Graduate Studies for December 31 program end date and February degree granting.

    Last day for students who hold major external graduate or undergraduate fellowships to apply for Winter Session fee deferments.

  4. Academic Year 2014/15 - September

    Start of Winter Session Term 1, most faculties.

    Distance Education: Start date for September (Term A and B) courses.

    Imagine UBC: First-day orientation program for undergraduate students in most programs. All classes are replaced by the Imagine UBC Day. See Imagine UBC for a list of participating programs and exceptions.

    Teacher Education Program: First day of classes for Term 1A/Orientation Day (all options)

    Last day for payment of first instalment of fees for registration and course changes made before September 1. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students must have confirmed full-time enrolment, must be receiving their 2014/15 student loans, and must have assessed unmet financial need to be considered for general bursaries.
