  1. Academic Year 2023/24 - April

    Easter Monday. University closed. Some branches of the Library may be open.

    Last day for sponsored students to submit application to have fees billed to a sponsoring organization for Summer Session Terms 1 and 2 (May to August) tuition fees. Students who do not submit their applications by the deadline will be required to pay their tuition fees by May 17 to avoid financial hold procedures (see Fees).

    Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) and Master of Management (MM) Programs: Period 4 Exams (April 1 – April 6)

    Teacher Education Program: School-based Extended practicum (EDUC 418 or 419) begins (April 2 to June 7 inclusive) (Elementary and Middle Years option).

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final doctoral oral examination for April 30 program end date.

    Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Program: First day of 1-week intensive course (April 8 - 12).

    Last day of classes for most faculties.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisors to submit Nominations for External Examiner form to Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for August 31 program end date.

    LAW: Last day of classes.

    Students applying for a Summer Bursary should have applied for government student loans for the Summer Session by this date. For more information see the UBC Bursary Program.

    Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA): Period 4 Exams (April 15 – April 20).

    Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Program: First day of 2-week intensive course, Period 5 (April 15 - 26).

    Master of Management (MM) Programs: First day of Period 5 (April 15 – May 17).

    Term 2 (April) examinations begin for most faculties, day and evening classes (April 16 to April 27 inclusive). Saturdays and Sundays are included in the examination schedule.

  2. Academic Year 2012/13 - August

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for North American students to be admitted for registration in January 2014. Late recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    International Student Services welcome services for new international (including US) and exchange students (August 1 to 18 inclusive, and ongoing).

    Last day for sponsored students to submit application to have fees billed to a sponsoring organization. Students who do not submit their applications by the deadline will be required to pay the first instalment of tuition fees by September 5 to avoid financial hold procedure (see Fees).

    Mechanical Engineering: Last day for students to complete their registration for 2013/14 Winter Session Term 1 and Term 2 MECH courses. After this date, courses with low enrolment may be cancelled and it may not be possible to accommodate registration requests.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for submission of exam copies of doctoral dissertations to Faculty of Graduate Studies for transmission to the external examiner in time for November graduation.

    Access & Diversity: Last day for booking an exam accommodation for Summer Session Term 2.

    Jump Start 2013: The two-week summer immersion portion of Jump Start begins (a first-year transition program for new international and Aboriginal students).

    Mechanical Engineering second-year practicum (MECH 220) begins.

    Jump Start 2013: Summer immersion program ends. The year-long transition portion of the program will commence on the first day of the Winter Session.

    Graduate Studies: Full day orientation for all new domestic and international graduate students.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final master's theses and doctoral dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies for August 31 program end date.     Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for completion of the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test for International applicants taking first-year English beginning in Winter 2013/14 Term 1, and also residing and attending school outside of Canada at the time of the July or August deadlines. Contact the First-Year English Office by July 20, 2013 for permission to take this late sitting.

  3. Academic Year 2001/02 - August

    Deadline for completion of the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test by Out-of-Province students intending to take a first-year English course in September 2002.

    Distance Education and Technology: Student Information System available for courses starting in September (Term A).

    Summer Session Term 2: some courses end. Examinations are held either this evening or on the following Saturday.

    Start of Winter Session Term 1, most faculties.

    Distance Education: Start date for September (Term A and B) courses.

    Imagine UBC: First-day orientation program for undergraduate students in most programs. All classes are replaced by the Imagine UBC Day. See Imagine UBC for a list of participating programs and exceptions.

    Pharmaceutical Sciences: Block 1 clerkship begins (September 3 to 27 inclusive).

    Teacher Education Program: 12-Month Options, NITEP Year 4: Orientation day. (Term 1, September 3 to December 13 inclusive).

    Go Global: Round 1 application deadline for Exchange and Research Abroad (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Technische Universität Darmstadt, and ALL UNIVERSITIES in the US, Iceland and Japan).

    The information that Canadian applicants submit in their Personal Profile when applying to UBC will be used for admissions and for Major Entrance Scholarship consideration. Students wishing to be considered for a Major Entrance Scholarship must submit their online application for admission to UBC by December 10, 2014. This includes paying the admission fee and submitting in-progress or final Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks as requested in the online application.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final doctoral oral examinations in time for December 31 program end date and February degree granting.
