  1. Academic Year 2001/02 - June

    Deadline for submission of Summer Session Bursary Program applications to Office of Student Financial Assistance.

    Distance Education and Technology: course information will be sent to students for courses beginning in July (Term B).

    Registration for Winter Session opens today. All students should refer to their admission letter or statement of grades for their individual registration access dates (subject to change).

    DE&T course examinations

    Summer Session, Terms 1 and 2: last day for BC Student Assistance Program applications for 2002 (subject to change).

    Dentistry, D.M.D., third year: last day of classes and clinic.

    Last date for withdrawal from most six-credit courses starting May 6 with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record.

    DE&T course examinations

    Deadline for submission to the Office of Student Financial Assistance of entrance scholarship applications from students applying from other post-secondary institutions.

    Dentistry, D.M.D., third year: assessment period begins (June 15 to 21 inclusive).

    Deadline for application for deferment of tuition fee payment for Summer Session, Term 2. This applies only to student loan recipients and students who hold major external graduate or undergraduate fellowships.

    Summer Session, Term 1: first day of classes for courses running June 17 to July 26.

    Last day for withdrawal from most three-credit courses starting June 17 without withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record. Student Information System remains open for course withdrawals with "W" standing.

    Students who are planning to apply for the Winter General Bursary in August-September should have applied for government student loans for the Winter Session by this date. It is also recommended that students apply by this date in order to have funding in place for the beginning of the Winter Session.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final doctoral oral examinations in time for September degree granting.

    Summer Session Term 2: Last day for withdrawal from most Summer Session Term 2 courses with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for the completion of the LPI test by BC students (including students who are non-BC residents studying at BC educational institutions) intending to take a first-year English course beginning in September. Newly-admitted students from outside of British Columbia may obtain special permission to write on Saturday, 3 September 2016. To seek permission, write to the First-Year English Office by 16 July 2016.

    Mechanical Engineering: Last day for students to complete their registration for 2016/17 Winter Session Term 1 and Term 2 MECH courses. After this date, courses with low enrolment may be cancelled and it may not be possible to accommodate registration requests.

  10. Academic Year 2004/05 - September

    Graduate Studies: Expected date for Faculty of Graduate Studies to receive recommendations from departments for North American Students to be admitted for registration in January.

    International Student Orientation for new international (including US) and exchange students begins (September 1 to 3 inclusive).

    Graduate Studies: students wishing to apply for University Graduate Fellowships and external awards administered through the University (NSERC, SSHRC) for 2005/06 should check with their departments for internal student deadlines.

    Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for completion of the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test for International applicants residing and attending school outside of Canada at the time of the July or August deadlines.

    UBC Housing and Conferences: Residences open.

    Labour Day. University closed.

    Commerce and Business Administration, B.Com and second year: orientation day.

    Distance Education and Technology: course start date for September (Term A).

    Imagine UBC: first-day orientation program for new students. All 100-level classes are cancelled today, with the single exception of those 100-level classes which start at or after 6:00 p.m. and meet only once per week.

    Law, first year: orientation begins.

    Law, second and third years: classes begin.

    Teacher Education Program: Students in 12 month and Year 1 of the 2 Year Elementary, Middle Years and Secondary; orientation day. (Term 1: September 7 to December 10 inclusive). Students in Year 2 of 2-Year Elementary: practicum begins (September 7 to December 3 inclusive).

    Deadline for new clients with a disability or medical condition to register with Access and Diversity for exam accommodations for April formal exams.

    Last day for submission of graduating essays and theses, most bachelor degree programs.

    Teacher Education Program: Term 2B ends (Elementary 12-Month and Middle Years options).

    Distance Education Term D courses: Last day for withdrawal from most Distance Education Term D courses with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final oral examination for doctoral students planning to graduate in May.

    Teacher Education Program: Extended practica (EDUC418 or 419, EDUC 430) begin (March 27 to June 23 inclusive) (12-Month Elementary and Middle Year options).

    Access & Diversity: Recommended date for submission of materials for alternate format production for Summer Session Term 1.

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for North American students to be admitted for registration September 2017. Late recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    Last day for Graduate Students employed as Teaching and Research Assistants to apply for payroll deduction of Summer Session tuition fees.

    Last day for sponsored students to submit application to have fees billed to a sponsoring organization for Summer Session Terms 1 and 2 (May to August) tuition fees. Students who do not submit their applications by the deadline will be required to pay their tuition fees by payment due dates to avoid financial hold procedures (see Fees).

    Students applying for a Summer Bursary should have applied for government student loans for the Summer Session by this date.
