The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC (Point Grey) is a learning, teaching, and research support facility providing access to information resources, technology, and programs and services for the UBC community and beyond. It also has a special focus to engage with community partners in support of sustainable community development and lifelong learning.
The Learning Centre houses library collections and services including the Music, Art and Architecture Library, Rare Books and Special Collections, University Archives and Chung | Lind Gallery. A variety of group and individual study spaces are available, in addition to classrooms and DaBao Dim Sum and Bakery. The Learning Centre is home to student and faculty support services including the Chapman Learning Commons, the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication, and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology. The Learning Centre also provides access to collections located in the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS).
The Learning Centre features 250,000 square feet of space, incorporating classrooms, lecture halls, academic units, and library services resources.
Academic units located in the Learning Centre include the ArtsOne, Science One, Coordinated Arts Program (CAP), and the UBC School of Information (iSchool).
