  1. Academic Year 2023/24 - February

    Teacher Education Program: Community Field Experience Contact Day (all options).

    Last day for payment of fees for any fee assessments incurred between January 1 and January 31. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold: further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

    Graduate Studies: Last day for submission of exam copies of doctoral dissertations to Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for transmission to the external examiner in time for April 30 program end date.

    Teacher Education Program: Last day of classes for Term 2A (Elementary and Middle Years option).

    Teacher Education Program: Pre-practicum Contact Day (classes cancelled) (Secondary option).

    Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program: First day of mandatory Global Immersion Experience (February 12 - 17).

    Teacher Education Program: First day of classes for Term 2B (Elementary and Middle Years option).

    Teacher Education Program: Last day of classes for Term 2 (Secondary Option).

    Family Day. University closed. Central study areas of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre will be open.

    Winter Session Term 2 midterm break begins for most faculties (February 19 to 23 inclusive). Lectures and laboratories cancelled. Some branches of the Library and other facilities remain open.

    Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program: First day of mandatory Global Immersion Experience (February 19 - March 1).

    Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Program: First day of 1-week intensive course (February 19 – 23).

    Teacher Education Program: School-based extended practicum (EDUC 421) begins (February 21 to May 12 inclusive) (Secondary Option).

    Last day for graduation applications to be submitted to Enrolment Services by all graduate and undergraduate students expecting to graduate in May. Application is made through the Student Service Centre.

    Entry-to-Practice PharmD program: PHRM 471/472/473 8-week Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Block 7/8 begins (Monday, February 26 to Friday, April 19 inclusive).

    Entry-to-Practice PharmD program: PHRM 473 4-week Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Block 7 begins (Monday, February 26 to Friday, March 22 inclusive).

    Flexible PharmD program: 4-week Practicum Block 7 begins (Monday, February 26 to Friday, March 22 inclusive).

    Flexible PharmD program: 6-week Practicum Block 7/8 begins (Monday, February 26 to Friday, April 5 inclusive).

  2. Academic Year 2012/13 - March

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for overseas international students to be admitted for registration in September 2013. Late recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    Pharmaceutical Sciences: Block 6 clerkship begins (March 4 to March 28 inclusive).

    Last day for submission of graduating essays and theses, most bachelor degree programs.

    Meeting of the Vancouver Senate.

    Distance Education Term D courses: Last day for withdrawal from most Distance Education Term D courses with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record. Consult your courses in the Course Schedule for specific information.

    Pharmaceutical Sciences: Block 6 clerkship ends.

    Teacher Education Program: 12-Month Elementary and Middle Years Options: Term 2 classes end.

    Good Friday. University closed. Some branches of the UBC Library may be open.

  3. Academic Year 2001/02 - July

    Canada Day. University closed.

    Distance Education and Technology: course start date for July (Term B).

    Summer Session, Term 2: some courses begin (July 2 to August 9 inclusive).

    Law: supplemental and deferred examinations begin (July 4 to July 13 inclusive).

    Disability Resource Centre: recommended date for submission of Exam Accommodation forms for Summer Session, Term 1, for courses ending July 26.

    Last date for withdrawal from most three-credit courses starting June 17 with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record.

    Last day for withdrawal from most three-credit courses starting July 2 without withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record. Student Information System remains open for course withdrawals with "W" standing.

    Summer Session, Term 2: tuition due date.

    Distance Education and Technology: Student Information System closes for DE & T courses starting in July (Term B). Last day for changes in registration and for withdrawal without a "W" standing recorded on a student's academic record.

    Last date for withdrawal from most three-credit courses starting July 2 with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record.

    Last date for withdrawal from most six-credit courses starting July 2 without withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record. Student Information System remains open for course withdrawals with "W" standing.

    Crane Resource Centre: recommended date for submission of materials for alternate format production for Winter Session, Term 1.

    Summer Session, Term 2: some courses begin (July 22 to August 9 inclusive).

    Summer Session Term 1: all classes end. Examinations are held either this evening or on the following Saturday..

    Deadline for the completion of the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test by BC students intending to take a first-year English course in September 2002.

    Supplemental and deferred examination period (Winter Session), weekdays (July 29 to August 9 inclusive).

    Graduate Studies: last day for submission of doctoral theses to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for sending to the external examiner in time for November graduation (note: the final oral examination cannot be held until a minimum of 8 weeks has passed after transmission of a thesis to the external examiner).

    Last date for withdrawal from most three-credit courses starting July 23 with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record.

  4. Academic Year 2013/14 - July

    Canada Day. University closed.

    Start of Summer Session Term 2. First day of classes for term running from July 2 to August 16 (exams August 12 to 16). For important deadlines such as last day for withdrawal without a withdrawal standing of W recording on a student's academic record, and last day for withdrawal with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record, refer to the online Course Schedule.

    Summer Session Term 2: Tuition fees due. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

    Summer Session Term 2 courses: Last day for changes between credit and audit for most courses. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Summer Session Term 2 courses: Last day to elect Credit/D/Fail grading for eligible courses. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Students who are planning to apply for the Winter General Bursary in August-September should have applied for government student loans for the Winter Session by this date. It is also recommended that students apply by this date in order to have funding in place for the beginning of the Winter Session.

    Summer Session Term 2: Last day for withdrawal from most Summer Session Term 2 courses with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student's academic record. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific information.

    Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for the completion of the LPI test by BC students (including students who are non-BC residents studying at BC educational institutions) intending to take a first-year English course beginning in September. Newly-admitted students from outside of British Columbia may obtain special permission to write on Saturday, August 30, 2014. To seek permission, write to the First-Year English Office by July 19, 2014.

    Access & Diversity: Recommended date for submission of materials for alternate format production for Winter Session courses starting in September 2014.

    Supplemental and deferred examination period (Winter Session), weekdays (July 28 to August 8 inclusive).

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final doctoral oral examinations in time for August 31 program end date and September degree granting.

  5. Academic Year 2002/03 - October

    Distance Education and Technology: course information will be sent to students for courses beginning in November (Term B).

    General University Bursaries: last day for applications to be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final oral examinations for doctoral students planning to graduate in November.

    Last day for payment of fees for any fee assessments incurred between September 1 and September 30. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; no subsequent registration activity, no release of grades or graduation diploma will be issued. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $25.00 and interest will be assessed on outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees section - published in Calendar).

    Graduate Studies: last day for departments to notify the Faculty of Graduate Studies that major papers have been submitted and all requirements met for non-thesis Master's degrees to be awarded in November.

    Graduate Studies: last day for submission to Library of Master's and Doctoral theses for graduation in November.

    Last date for withdrawal from most Winter Session Term 1 courses with withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record.

    Thanksgiving Day. University closed.

    Awards for students with disabilities: last day for applications to be submitted to the Awards and Financial Aid Office.

    Graduate Studies: deadline for departments to submit nominations for University Graduate Fellowships to the Faculty of Graduate Studies on behalf of the students. Students must contact departments for information regarding deadlines for departmental review.

    Teacher Education Program: BCTF Province-wide PSA Day. All Teacher Education classes cancelled.

    Teacher Education Program: Secondary practicum begins (October 21 to November 1 inclusive)

    Rehabilitation Sciences, fourth year, RHSC and RSPT examinations (October 22 to October 25 inclusive).

    Last day for submission of applications for supplemental and deferred examinations from Summer Session.
