  1. Academic Year 2009/10 - December

    Access & Diversity Office: Last date for submission of Exam Accommodation forms for December examinations.

    Graduate Studies: Deadline for guaranteed consideration by the Faculty of Graduate Studies of recommendations from graduate programs for North American students to be admitted for registration May 2010. Later recommendations may be accepted upon special request from a graduate program.

    Last day for Graduate Students employed as Teaching and Research Assistants to apply for payroll deduction of Winter Session Term 2 (January to April) tuition fees.

    Last day of classes for most faculties.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisor to submit "Appointment of External Examiner" form to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for students expecting to graduate in May.

    December examinations begin for most faculties, day and evening classes (December 8 to 22 inclusive). Saturdays are included in the exam schedule.

    Meeting of the Senate.

    Last day of December examinations for most faculties.

    Christmas Day. University closed.

    Statutory holiday in lieu of Boxing Day. University closed.

    Reduced student services in most departments until January 4, 2010.

  3. Academic Year 2021/22 - December

    Application deadline for UBC (Centennial Scholars) Entrance Awards.

    Application deadline for Canadian direct entry high school students wishing to be considered for a First Round Offer of Admission.

    Graduate Studies: Application deadline for students wishing to apply for Affiliated Fellowships (Master’s level) and CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships Master’s “CGS M”.

    Students wishing to be considered for a Presidential Scholars Award must submit their online application for admission to UBC by December 1, 2021. This includes paying the admission fee and submitting in-progress or final Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks as or if requested in the online application. The information that Canadian applicants submit in their Personal Profile when applying to UBC will be used for admissions and for Presidential Scholars Award consideration.

    Go Global: Application deadline for select Go Global Summer Abroad, Global Seminar and Research Abroad programs (Please visit the Go Global website for a complete listing of schools and programs included in this deadline).

    Professional Master of Business Administration (PMBA) Program: First day of mandatory Professional Residency III (December 4 – December 11, 2021).

    LAW: Last day of classes for LAW.

    Last day of classes for most faculties.

    LAW: Term 1 (December) Law examinations begin (December 9 to 22 inclusive)

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisors to submit Appointment of External Examiner form to Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for April 30 program end date.

    Term 1 (December) examinations begin for most faculties, day and evening classes (December 11 to 22 inclusive). Saturdays and Sundays are included in the exam schedule.

    Go Global: Application deadline for term-based Exchange. Term 1, Term 2, full-year, and split year exchange in the 2021/2022 academic year. Please see the Go Global website for a complete listing of partner schools.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final doctoral oral examinations in time for December 31 program end date.

    Meeting of the Senate.

    Winter Term 2 Only Bursary application available to students online through the Student Service Centre between December 15, 2021 and January 15, 2022, closes at midnight. Students must have confirmed full-time enrolment for Term 2, must be receiving their Term 2 only student loans, and must have assessed unmet financial need to be considered for general bursaries.

    Teacher Education Program: Last day of classes for Term 1 (all options).

    Last day of Term 1 (December) examinations for most faculties.

    Student Housing: Last day of Winter Session Residence Contract for Winter Session Term 1–only residents.

    Student Housing: Totem Park, Place Vanier, and Orchard Commons Residences close at 12 noon for the holiday break and all residents required to vacate at that time. Will reopen at noon, Sunday, 9 January 2022.

    Christmas Day. University closed.

    Boxing Day. University closed.

    Reduced services in most departments until 10 January 2022.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for Graduate Students employed as Teaching and Research Assistants to apply for deferral of Winter Session Term 2 (January to April) tuition fees.

  4. Academic Year 2009/10 - January

    New Year's Day. University closed.

    UBC Housing and Conferences: Residences open for Term 2.

    Term 2 begins, Winter Session: All faculties, day and evening classes.

    Winter GALA - International Student Orientation for new international (including US) and exchange students entering Winter Session Term 2.

    Distance Education: Start date for January (Term C) courses.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for final master's theses and doctoral dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies for December 31, 2009, program end date. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 p.m. Students who meet this deadline will not be assessed tuition and student fees for the 2009/10 Winter Term 2.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for supervisors to submit "Appointment of External Examiner" form to Faculty of Graduate Studies for April 30, 2010, program end date.

    Pharmaceutical Sciences: Block 4 clerkship begins (January 4 to 29 inclusive).

    Teacher Education program: 12-Month Elementary and Middle Years Options, Elementary Year 1 of 2, and NITEP Year 4: Short practicum begins (January 4 to 15 inclusive). Elementary Year 2 of 2, NITEP Year 5 and 12-Month Secondary Options: Term 2 classes begin.

    Graduate Studies: Last day for payment of January instalment of tuition fees. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35.00 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Vancouver Calendar, Fees).

    Last day for payment of second instalment of fees for registration and course changes made on or before December 31. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released and graduation diplomas will be withheld.     Pharmaceutical Sciences: Deadline for application for Pharm.D. program commencing in August 2010.

    Last day for changes in registration and for withdrawal from most Term 2 courses without withdrawal standing of "W" recorded on a student's academic record. Student Service Centre remains open for course withdrawals with "W" standing.

    Distance Education: Student Service Centre closes for Distance Education courses starting in January (Term C). Last day for changes in registration and for withdrawals without a "W" standing recorded on a student's academic record.

    Last day for changes between credit and audit for Term 2 courses.

    Teacher Education Program: 12-Month Elementary and Middle Years Options, Elementary Year 1 of 2, and NITEP Year 4: Classes begin (January 18 to March 26, exam period March 27 to 28).
