  1. IWME_V 501 (3) Environmental Fluid Mechanics

    Governing equations for incompressible, non-rotating flows of variable density; equations of motion for stratified fluids; selective withdrawal; flow over topography; estuarine and exchange flows; hydrodynamic stability. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  2. IWME_V 502 (3) Engineering Hydrology

    Water cycle and role of water in the environment and environmental engineering. Physical and statistical prediction methods for design related to hydrologic systems; precipitation; evaporation; snow hydrology; infiltration and base flow; surface runoff; channel and storage routing; unit hydrograph methods. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  3. IWME_V 503 (3) Chemical and Biological Industrial Water Treatment Design

    Fundamental principles of process design for chemical and biological systems to treat water used in and effluents generated from industrial processes. Industry application examples: mining, oil sands, oil and gas, pulp and paper, agriculture, food and beverage. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  4. IWME_V 504 (3) Water and Wastewater Management Strategies

    Chemical and microbiological quality and contaminations, techniques and analytical procedures for assessing and monitoring chemical and microbiological water quality; water and wastewater quality standards, pollution prevention strategies and policies; risk analysis; asset management. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  5. IWME_V 505 (3) Water Resources Systems Planning and Management

    Art and science of modelling for integrated water resources planning and management; practice of developing and deploying simulation and optimization models to solve water problems; risk informed decision making frameworks and stakeholder processes for analysis of water resources systems. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  6. IWME_V 506 (4) Water Infrastructure Capstone

    Delivery of major water infrastructure projects from policies to planning and implementation, including schedule, cost, scope, impacts, performance and risk management, indigenous participation and innovative project financing and delivery approaches. Credit will be granted for only one of: IWME 506 or CIVL 523. [3-0-1] This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
