Linear wave theory; wave shoaling, refraction and diffraction; random waves; wave generation; long waves, tides and currents; coastal structures; beaches and coasts; mixing processes; harbour and marinas; coastal modelling. Credit will only be given for one of CIVL 417 or CIVL 540. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: CIVL 316 and one of EOSC 213, MATH 256. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
